The Director General of the Michael Imoudu National Institute for Labour Studies (MINILS), Issa Aremu has called on all stakeholders to eradicate child labour and all forms of treatment that impede the rights of children.
Aremu made the call in a statement to mark the Children’s Day Celebration.
Aremu noted that child labour deprives children of their childhood, education and fundamental rights which hinder both personal and societal development.
“We must reaffirm our commitment to eradicating child labour in all forms,” he pleaded.
He said that by addressing the root cause of child labour such as poverty and lack of education, the nation can build a future where every child is socially secure to reach their full potential.
Aremu affirmed that every child has the right to education, health, and a safe environment free from exploitation and abuse.
