MINILS Hosts Industrial Training Fund (ITF) & Skill-Up Artisan’s Program (SUPA)Team

Today, Tuesday, 2nd September 2025, the Michael Imoudu National Institute for Labour Studies (MINILS) had the honour of hosting Dr. Abaji Augustine from Berekete Family Abuja, Mr. Onipe Ibrahim, Head of Training, ITF, Ilorin Area Office and Mr. Peter Bassey, ITF Headquarters, Jos.

The main purpose of the visit was physical assessment of the artisans undergoing training in Michael Imoudu National Institute for Labour studies(MINILS) as one of the Skill Training Centres. The programme which is an initiative of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is organised by Skills-Up Artisan (SUPA) to improve the Artisan’s service delivery, coordinated by the Industrial Training Fund.

It also featured deliberations focusing on the promotion of skill acquisition, digital empowerment, safety in the workplace and record keeping for the operations of the artisans.

Recall that Phase one of ITF/SUPA programme held in the Institute from June to September 2024 (three months) which entails pure practical in Sewing and Cutting (Tailoring), Embroidery, Carpentry, Joinery and Woodwork. The second phase scheduled to run for six weeks which is mainly soft skills training for SUPA trainees is ongoing. This phase comprises of occupational health and safety, professional ethics and patriotism and project management.

The interactive session was highly engaging and impactful, offering valuable insights that further reinforced MINILS’ and ITF’s commitment to think outside the box concerning the future of work in order to teach the right content.

Highlight of the interactive session was the presentation of the institute’s souvenirs to the Industrial Training Fund and SUPA Team.
